Poplar Island Inlet Repairs

USACE Baltimore

Poplar Island, MD

New Dominion Construction partnered with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Baltimore District to restore the Inlet 1C crossing on Poplar Island, Maryland, a key component of the Chesapeake Bay ecosystem restoration program. Accessible only by barge, the project included removal of deteriorated MSE wingwalls, installation of sheet piling to stabilize the inlet roadway, dike repairs, roadway restoration, and guardrail replacement. Executed within a remote, environmentally sensitive setting, the work strengthened critical infrastructure while supporting the island’s long-term restoration mission and demonstrated NDC’s expertise in complex marine and heavy civil construction.
