This was New Dominion’s second project with our clients at Joint Bas McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. The scope of work included the disconnection and removal of nine existing vehicle lifts at the McGuire Air Force base mechanics hangar. It additionally required filling the open pits with compacted lifts up to the desired grade, then backfilling this area with 6” of dense grade aggregate and 10” of concrete. The concrete was to have a non-skid finish and the joints sealed with a petroleum-resistant sealant.
All the existing painted markings were to be repainted after demolition was complete. The challenge with this project was the hangar had to stay fully operational during the demolition process. To successfully complete this project, New Dominion performed the work in three separate phases. This was a fun and challenging project that was completed within the government-provided schedule and within budget.
