This project provided a unique set of obstacles for the team at New Dominion Construction. We were tasked with removing the existing batt insulation in the ceiling of an Aircraft Hangar at Hunter Airfield, Fort Stewart, Georgia. We then had to replace the batt insulation with 4″ thick, R15.5, 0.5 PCF, open cell spray polyurethane foam insulation. The insulation also required a 15-minute thermal barrier.
The biggest obstacle New Dominion faced on this particular project was that the the highly specialized military drone aircrafts needed to remain within the hanger during the process. Time was allotted within the process to ensure each aircraft was meticulously protected prior to the start of the work. The project was completed within two work weeks out of a 60-day schedule and remained within budget.
