The US Merchant Marine Academy is situated right on the Little Neck Bay of the East River outside of New York City. Being below sea level, the basement of Rogers Hall at the Academy had always been a damp space—a perfect haven for mold to grow.
The scope of the work performed at this site included the removal of mold-infested lead paint in four rooms of the Rogers Hall basement, including the academy’s student bookstore. The project was performed under a tight schedule of 21 days to complete, just in time for the arrival of students for the fall semester.
New Dominion began the project by sealing off these areas, and the existing paint was removed and replaced with a mold-resistant latex-based paint. Our team also added a security cage to the bookstore to enclose the existing HVAC units that were part of the room. The project was completed on time and under budget in time for the students to enjoy a clean, mold-free environment in Rogers Hall.
